Wilfried Gnonto facing fan problems – Quick return to Leeds United on cards

Gnonto struggling at Fiorentina on loan with limited starts; speculation he could return to Leeds United.

Wilfried Gnonto left Leeds United for Fiorentina on loan in the summer but has struggled to establish himself in Florence. The winger has made seven Serie A appearances with just one start in early October, spending most of his time on the bench. Manager Paolo Vanoli has backed him publicly, but Gnonto arrived with negative fan perception and has yet to prove his worth. Fiorentina's option to buy stands at €15m, a significant fee the club will be reluctant to pay given his limited impact. Competition from Alieu Njie and Real Madrid loanee Franco Mastantuono has further limited his opportunities. The lack of European football at Fiorentina will also restrict his playing time for the remainder of the season, leading to speculation he could return to Leeds United.
