Anthony Gordon makes vow to Javier Aguirre after viral World Cup interaction

Gordon pledges to sign a photo of his viral World Cup moment with Aguirre after the Valencia manager requested it for his children.

Anthony Gordon has agreed to sign a photograph of his famous interaction with Javier Aguirre from England's World Cup last-16 win over Mexico. Television cameras captured the moment during a hydration break at the Estadio Azteca, with Aguirre shouting Gordon's name before saying "f*** you" and laughing. The clip went viral on social media, and Aguirre, now Valencia manager, requested that Gordon sign a print-out for his children following his summer move to Barcelona.

Gordon described the interaction as "a great moment" with "no malice" and praised Aguirre as "a really good guy." He reflected on England's 3-2 victory in Mexico City as "the best of my life," highlighting the team's resilience in winning with 10 men against the co-hosts on enemy soil. Gordon is now thriving at Barcelona, where he has scored three goals and provided four assists in 13 appearances, and says competing for trophies is more enjoyable than the relegation battles he endured at Everton.
