Celtic chairman Wilson lifts lid on supporters club Q&A as he reveals 'hard but fair' grilling from 120 fans

Celtic chairman Wilson says the board faced tough but fair questioning from 120 fans at a Greenock supporters club event, with O'Neill's future and transfer strategy among the topics discussed.

Celtic's board held a Q&A with 120 fans at the Greenock supporters club, where interim chairman Brian Wilson, CEO Michael Nicholson, CFO Chris Mackay and manager Martin O'Neill faced two hours of questioning on club matters.

The event covered several contentious issues. O'Neill's position has come under scrutiny following a winless Europa League start, recent defeats to Rangers, and a 2-0 loss to Falkirk that cost Celtic the chance to move seven points clear. His contract option to extend by a year was discussed.

Transfer strategy was a major focus, with fans critical of spending relative to player sales revenue and questioning the form of club record signing Kasper Hogh. The board also addressed whether they were beholden to owner Dermot Desmond, with Nicholson and McKay responding with an emphatic no. Wilson stressed the respectful tone of the event allowed the hierarchy to engage with the searching questions put to them.
