García Plaza's outburst on La Liga: "They want two teams standing out at the top"

García Plaza suggests La Liga is designed to favour Barcelona and Real Madrid, while warning Sevilla's sixth-place position masks underlying problems.

former Sevilla manager Luis García Plaza held a pre-match press conference ahead of Friday's home fixture against Alavés, using the occasion to reflect on the state of La Liga. He suggested the competition's structure is designed to see Barcelona and Real Madrid finish as the two standout teams at the top, while acknowledging that other clubs like Atlético Madrid deserve credit for their efforts.

García Plaza also warned Sevilla's supporters that the club's current sixth-place position does not reflect their true level and that they will have to work hard to achieve their objectives. He accepted criticism for the recent defeat at Getafe but defended his team's overall performance, noting they played well in the first half but poorly in the second. He emphasised the need for self-criticism without changing the team's approach.

The manager also spoke fondly of his time at Alavés, where he spent three years and described it as among the best of his coaching career. He expressed affection for the club and its staff, wishing them well in future matches.
