Tottenham can still re-sign Harry Kane despite massive new Bayern Munich deal

Spurs retain first-option matching rights on Kane despite his Bayern contract extension to 2029, potentially enabling a return when his deal ends.

Harry Kane has extended his Bayern Munich contract through 2029 on improved terms worth around £400,000 per week. However, Tottenham retained first-option matching rights on the striker as part of the original £100 million sale agreement in August 2023. These rights remain active and unaffected by contract changes or extensions.

Kane, who will be 36 when his Bayern deal expires, could theoretically return to Spurs for a final chapter. The England captain scored 280 goals in 435 appearances during his 14-year spell at the club from 2009 to 2023, becoming their all-time record scorer. Former former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood suggested a return is plausible, noting Kane would likely only move to a club capable of winning trophies and that Spurs currently have better prospects than several other top sides.
