Liverpool starter with dismal stats is Andoni Iraola's biggest problem, he should be axed

Szoboszlai struggled in Liverpool's 3-2 Champions League loss to Fenerbahce and should be dropped for the Crystal Palace match this weekend.

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai delivered a poor performance in the Reds' 3-2 Champions League defeat to Fenerbahce on Wednesday evening in Istanbul. The 26-year-old Hungarian, making his first start since injury, created only two chances and took just one touch in the Fenerbahce box, while producing three accurate crosses from 20 attempts and failing to make a successful tackle. Szoboszlai has scored three times without an assist in 10 appearances this season, a significant drop from last term's 25 goal contributions in 53 games.

Analyst Oliver argues Szoboszlai should be dropped for Liverpool's upcoming match against Crystal Palace this weekend. The midfielder ranks in the 15th percentile for distance covered per 90 minutes (11km) among top-flight midfielders, contributing to Liverpool's broader issue of being bottom of the Premier League for team distance covered per match. Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has suggested Szoboszlai's best fit is as an eight in a 4-3-3 formation, though his current role remains unclear under manager Andoni Iraola.
