Ex-Sunderland coach updates on Thomas Frank being appointed Regis Le Bris' replacement

Former Sunderland coach Mick Brown says Thomas Frank is on the club's radar as a potential replacement for Le Bris, but doubts about his Tottenham record mean he may not be the front-runner.

Sunderland are considering their options regarding manager Regis Le Bris after a poor start to the Premier League season has left them bottom of the table. Former Sunderland coach Mick Brown told Football Insider that Thomas Frank, the ex-Tottenham boss, is among the candidates being considered should the club decide to make a managerial change.

However, Brown indicated there are reservations about Frank's appointment. His spell at Tottenham ended in February after he won just 13 of 38 games across all competitions, raising questions about whether he is the right fit for a Premier League club. While Frank's previous success at Brentford is acknowledged, the concerns about his recent record could push Sunderland to explore other options.

Brown suggested the club would prefer to stick with Le Bris for now and are not rushing into a decision, but a number of managers are being considered if circumstances change. Frank is also being linked with other Premier League vacancies, including Crystal Palace, who have reportedly held preliminary talks with him about potentially replacing Pierre Sage.
