Ref Watch: Three Sascha Stegemann blunders in Celtic vs Besiktas

Referee Sascha Stegemann made three questionable calls in Celtic's 3-2 Europa League win over Besiktas, including a missed yellow card for handball and a debatable booking for Nygren.

Celtic beat Besiktas 3-2 in an entertaining Europa League clash at Parkhead on Thursday, with Camilo Duran scoring the winner three minutes from time after Orkan Kokcu had equalized for the visitors.

German referee Sascha Stegemann came under scrutiny for three controversial decisions. In the 14th minute, he failed to book Besiktas winger Poku for a clear handball that stopped a Celtic attack. On the hour mark, Stegemann issued a yellow card to Celtic midfielder Nygren for a tackle in the Besiktas area where replays suggested the Swedish player won the ball first. In the dying stages, Nygren attempted to win a foul on the edge of the box but dived; Stegemann correctly spotted the dive and awarded Besiktas a free kick, but did not show Nygren a second yellow card despite the earlier caution.
