General director Geelen to leave Ajax next April

General director Menno Geelen will depart Ajax on 1 April 2027 after 16 years with the club.

Ajax has announced that general director Menno Geelen will leave the club on 1 April 2027, following discussions with the board of commissioners. Geelen has been with Ajax since 2010 in various roles and was appointed general director in May 2024. The club will engage an external recruitment firm to find his successor. Geelen said: "After more than sixteen years it is time for me to take the next step. The board and I started early discussions about my expiring contract and the future. These were good conversations, in which this decision was ultimately made. By announcing it now, there is time to find a successor."
