We needed a meeting to know football gives you another chance soon

Villarreal manager Íñigo Pérez said the team needs to bounce back after a 6-0 Champions League loss to PSG, with Sunday's match against Getafe offering a chance to improve.

Villarreal manager Íñigo Pérez addressed the media ahead of Sunday's La Liga match against Getafe, acknowledging the impact of recent defeats at home, particularly the 6-0 Champions League loss to PSG.

"When you suffer a defeat like the other day, plus the one against Espanyol, your enthusiasm diminishes," Pérez said. "We needed a meeting and conversations to understand that football quickly gives you another opportunity, knowing you've lost in the Champions League, but you have to keep going."

Pérez, who is still building his project at Villarreal, stressed he does not feel added pressure beyond what he has carried since becoming a manager. He emphasized that his responsibility to the club, the players and his profession remains constant. The coach also defended his tactical approach, saying his identity and ideas are unchangeable but he remains open to adaptation and improvement based on context. He warned against drastic changes following defeats, preferring analysis and refinement instead. Pérez described Getafe as an extremely difficult opponent and called for his team to avoid playing with anxiety or stress.
