Colchester fans are with us, says boss Cowley

Cowley praised Colchester's supporters for backing the team despite a 12-match winless streak that has left them 23rd in League Two.

Colchester United manager Danny Cowley has praised the club's supporters for their continued backing despite a difficult run of form. The U's have not won any of their last 12 matches in all competitions since beating Rochdale 1-0 on 29 August, a streak that has seen them slip to 23rd in League Two. After losing 3-1 to Walsall last Saturday, Cowley told BBC Essex that the fans remained behind the team, still singing their names despite the disappointment. He said the supporters' loyalty had inspired him and the squad, and that their backing had prompted reflection on how to turn things around. Colchester face Worcester City in the FA Cup first round on Saturday, with Cowley keen to progress and keep their season alive on multiple fronts.
