Van Bronckhorst: 'Everyone must feel that losing doesn't belong at a top club'

Van Bronckhorst says Feyenoord must win at Heerenveen on Sunday to restore confidence after four games without victory.

former Feyenoord manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst addressed his team's recent struggles at his Friday press conference ahead of Sunday's trip to SC Heerenveen. The Dutch club has gone four matches without a win: draws against PSV and Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie, and defeats to Real Betis and Internazionale in the Champions League.

Van Bronckhorst emphasized the importance of returning to winning ways. "For our confidence it's essential that we win a match quickly. That's the only medicine," he said. "Everyone must feel that losing doesn't belong at a top club." He acknowledged that the draw with PSV was fortunate and that Feyenoord should have beaten Fortuna.

On the injury front, Van Bronckhorst reported few concerns. Oussama Targhalline was unwell but is expected to play in Friesland, while Shaqueel van Persie returns after several weeks out and may feature in the second half. Tsuyoshi Watanabe and Charles Vanhoutte are available to start. The manager praised his squad's physical output, noting they delivered their highest intensity against Fortuna and Inter, though he wants better decision-making on when to exert that effort. Heerenveen, unbeaten in their last five matches, will present a stern test with their fluid, high-pressing style.
