Joaquim Forn joins Barcelona

Former Catalan interior minister Joaquim Forn joins Barcelona as head of corporate governance, effective Monday.

FC Barcelona has appointed Joaquim Forn as its new head of corporate governance. Forn, a law graduate with a long political career in Barcelona's city council, previously served as interior minister of Catalonia from July 2017 until October that year, when he was prosecuted over the 1 October independence referendum. He was imprisoned and sentenced to 10 years and six months in 2019, but received a pardon in 2021. Most recently, Forn worked in the legal services of Mediapro Group. The club says his appointment strengthens its governance model and will help ensure alignment in decision-making with the board's approved objectives.
