Newcastle's Dedic stopped by police for carrying bow and arrows

Newcastle right-back Amar Dedic was stopped by police on November 4 while carrying a bow and arrows with a friend; the items were seized but confirmed to be for recreational use with no public danger.

Newcastle right-back Amar Dedic was stopped by Northumbria Police on Wednesday, November 4, after multiple reports of two men carrying a bow and arrows along a footpath in the Harlow Hill area. Six police vehicles, including armed officers, were deployed and located Dedic and a friend approximately 10 km from the initial sightings.

The bow and arrows were seized during a search of their vehicle, but police confirmed the equipment was intended for recreational use only, posed no danger to the public, and was not for hunting (which is prohibited with bows and crossbows in Britain). Dedic, who joined Newcastle this summer, was cooperative with officers throughout. Teammates Mark Gillespie and former defender Paul Dummett arrived at the scene to vouch for him.

Newcastle is not expected to fine Dedic, and he is set to play in the club's next match against Fulham in London.
