Sources: Southampton scouts watching Rangers rising star David Odunukan

Southampton scouts watched Rangers U17 defender Odunukan, 15, in a match against Aberdeen; interest level unclear but part of Saints' recruitment of Scottish youth talent.

Southampton had scouts in attendance at Cormack Park on Friday to watch Rangers Under-17s defender David Odunukan in a match against Aberdeen U17s, which Rangers won 3-1. Odunukan, 15, is a centre-back who joined Rangers from Motherwell in 2025 and has represented both Scotland and England at youth level, starting for England U16s at the Val de Marne tournament in France.

It is unclear how far advanced Southampton's interest is at this stage, with other clubs also potentially monitoring the youngster. Odunukan appears to be part of a broader Southampton recruitment strategy targeting young Scottish talent; the club has already signed 16-year-old defender Harris Afzal from Queens Park FC and Rory Whittaker from Hibernian in 2025. Rangers will hope to retain the defender, who was born in London but moved to Scotland as a young child.
