Michael Carrick drops hint on his Manchester United future ahead of international break

Carrick said he has not been told whether he will remain in charge after the international break, responding "just carry on as absolute normal" when asked about his future.

Michael Carrick addressed his Manchester United future at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's game against Aston Villa. When asked directly if he had been told he would still be manager after the November international break, Carrick replied: "No, no. Just carry on as absolute normal."

The comments come after United's 3-2 Champions League win over Roma ended a nine-game winless streak. Earlier, club officials Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox had discussed whether to sack Carrick following the heavy defeat to Bournemouth last month. The international break is seen as a potential opportunity to make a managerial change if the club decides that is necessary.

Carrick also outlined plans for players not on international duty, saying some would train during the break while others might have the weekend off to rest and recharge.
