Michael Carrick reveals latest on Manchester United future as crisis hits new low

Carrick has not received assurances over his job security ahead of Sunday's must-win clash with Aston Villa, with United currently in the relegation zone.

Michael Carrick has admitted he has not been offered any guarantees about his future as Manchester United head coach, with his position under intense scrutiny following a disappointing start to the season.

United host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon in what has become a critical fixture. After Nottingham Forest's win over Manchester City on Saturday, United dropped into the relegation zone and sit two points from safety. Only victory over Villa will keep them out of the bottom three for the entirety of the November international break, with defeat likely to intensify calls for Carrick's sacking.

Despite the pressure, Carrick remains focused on preparation. He confirmed that training will continue next week during the international break, with only three or four senior players expected to be unavailable. "Whatever happens is going to happen in terms of the game against Villa, and we've got to prepare right," Carrick told reporters, adding that he was genuinely looking forward to playing at home following United's spirited Champions League comeback against Roma on Tuesday night.
