Anderson exit may free up room for signing - Cowan

Shrewsbury boss Cowan says Anderson's loan departure to Carlisle has freed up funds to strengthen the squad in other areas.

Tom Anderson has joined Carlisle United on loan until January in search of regular first-team football. Shrewsbury manager Gavin Cowan said he was disappointed to lose the defender but believes the move has created space in the budget to add players in other positions. Cowan noted he inherited three similar centre-halves, making it difficult to accommodate Anderson, and said any new signings must fit the club's longer-term plan. The manager also revealed Shrewsbury had negotiated with striker Tom Eaves before he joined Gillingham.
