Arsenal flop reveals how Mikel Arteta errors forced him to request transfer: 'Sold me a dream'

Willian revealed he requested to leave Arsenal just three months after joining in 2020, citing Arteta's lack of man-management despite tactical quality.

Willian, who signed for Arsenal on a free transfer from Chelsea in 2020 on a three-year deal, departed after just one season by mutual consent. Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, the winger claimed he asked to leave within three months, saying Arteta was a strong tactical coach but lacked the 'human part' of management. Willian scored only once in 37 appearances before leaving, having been promised he would be the focal point of the team's attack.
