Muniain: "Every time I remember it makes me happy"

Muniain, now Salamanca UDS manager, drew Celta in the Copa del Rey and reflected on winning the trophy as Athletic captain in 2024.

Iker Muniain, now managing Salamanca UDS in the Segunda RFEF, was one of the draw assistants at yesterday's Copa del Rey draw. His side will face Celta at El Helmántico. When asked about his Copa experience on stage, Muniain spoke emotionally about winning the trophy in 2024 as Athletic captain—a dream realised after losing four previous finals. He described the victory in Seville as magical and said the memory fills him with joy. Muniain has made a strong start to his managerial career; Salamanca qualified for the Copa Federación semi-finals and will face Sestao River on Wednesday 14th.
