Schreuder hints at contract for Bakker: 'We'll discuss it this week'

NEC to decide this week on signing free agent Bakker after positive impression at Spanish training camp.

NEC will make a decision this week on whether to sign free agent left-back Mitchel Bakker, who terminated his Atalanta contract on September 1. The 26-year-old impressed manager Dick Schreuder during the club's training camp in Spain and has made clear his desire to play in the Netherlands again. Schreuder indicated Bakker could fill a defensive role, with the club currently dealing with injuries to Bram Nuytinck and Philippe Sandler.
