Toone recalled to England squad for Greece World Cup playoff after Lucy Bronze injury; Wiegman praised her positive response to initial omission.
Ella Toone has been recalled to England's Women's World Cup playoff squad against Greece after Lucy Bronze sustained an injury. The Manchester United midfielder was initially left out by manager Sarina Wiegman, who felt the levels of Toone and Chloe Kelly weren't meeting expectations. However, Toone's professional response—including a strong performance for Manchester United against Liverpool—impressed Wiegman enough to bring her back. The first leg takes place Friday in Heraklion, Crete.
