"Coincidence" – Manager on signing West Ham player in January after agent meeting

Atlante manager Aguirre downplayed links to West Ham's Edson Álvarez after his agent met the club, calling it coincidence despite confirmed talks over January reinforcements.

Atlante manager Javier Aguirre addressed speculation about signing West Ham midfielder Edson Álvarez in January after the player's agent met with the Spanish club this week. Aguirre, who managed Álvarez during his time as Mexico coach, dismissed the connection as coincidence in his pre-match press conference ahead of Valencia's game against Athletic Bilbao. He confirmed the club has held meetings about bringing in reinforcements in the winter window but gave no commitment on specific targets.
