Alvarez apologises to Atlético fans for World Cup remarks

Alvarez apologised to Atlético fans for comments made during the World Cup when he sought a move to Barcelona, which the club blocked.

Julián Alvarez publicly apologised to Atlético Madrid supporters for remarks he made during the World Cup, when he expressed a desire to leave the club and join Barcelona. The move never materialised after CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín refused to enter negotiations.

Speaking to Movistar, Alvarez said: "I wanted to apologise to our people for my words during the World Cup. They were a mistake on my part, both in how I said them and the timing, and especially because I understand the fans' anger. I would have been angry too, and more so given how they've supported me all this time."

The forward acknowledged his teammates' support during the difficult period and expressed his commitment to improving his performances. He noted feeling better physically and with the ball in recent matches, and hopes to convert the remaining whistles from some supporters into applause through hard work and humility.
