'Something has got to change' - Harry Maguire backs Michael Carrick despite torrid Man United form

Maguire backed Carrick after United's 3-0 loss to Bournemouth left the manager's job in serious doubt, but insisted the squad must improve quickly.

Manchester United lost 3-0 to Bournemouth on Sunday, pushing manager Michael Carrick closer to the sack after a dismal start to the season. The 44-year-old looked emotional applauding fans after the final whistle, though he said it was not a farewell. United have won just two of their 12 games in all competitions.

Defender Harry Maguire backed Carrick in a post-match interview, saying the squad is "fully behind" the manager. However, Maguire acknowledged the team's lack of confidence and poor performances, particularly their defending at set plays. "Something has got to change quick," Maguire said. "We can still have a good season but we have to do it quickly." He credited Carrick with turning things around last season and securing Champions League football, but stressed that individual players must perform better.
