Man United insider drops verdict on when Michael Carrick will be sacked

Carrick expected to be sacked within days after 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth leaves his position untenable.

Michael Carrick's position as Manchester United manager is expected to end within days, according to sources close to the club. A 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford against Bournemouth appears to have sealed his fate, with the board now actively considering replacements behind the scenes.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that despite some hope Carrick could turn things around, there is now no way back after recent results. United have won just two of their 12 games this season, with only one victory in eight Premier League matches—their worst-ever start to a campaign.

While Carrick is not solely responsible for the club's problems, the results-driven nature of football management at a club of United's stature means a decision is expected imminently. Brown said: "It's a real shame for Michael Carrick, but results haven't been good enough. Sometimes it really is as simple as that... After the Bournemouth game, I expect that decision will be made sooner rather than later, within days." The departure would come amid broader discontent, with key players including Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez publicly criticising the board's decision-making.
