A struggling Barcelona and a better-than-expected Madrid

Madrid's improved performance and Barcelona's sluggish display decided a tight Clásico; 28 La Liga matches remain.

Barcelona's expected tenth consecutive La Liga win did not materialise as Real Madrid produced a better-than-recent-form performance to claim a narrow victory in the Clásico.

The match proved tighter than pre-game expectations suggested. Madrid fielded a strong midfield with Güller, Bernardo Silva, Bellingham, Tchouameni and Camavinga, pressing Barcelona intensely from the start. Barcelona struggled to regain possession as they normally do and appeared overwhelmed, with Lamine Yamal particularly troubled by Cucurella's tight marking on the right flank.

Barcelona created chances that could have resulted in victory had they been converted, but ultimately Madrid's intensity and technical quality in midfield proved decisive. With 28 La Liga matches remaining, the title race remains wide open despite Barcelona's loss.
