They are selfish and have deceived the best coaches, they are not worthy of wearing that shirt

Wayne Rooney criticised Manchester United's players after their 4-1 defeat to Como, saying they lack commitment and are unworthy of the shirt.

Manchester United's 4-1 loss to Como in Italy has prompted strong criticism from club legend Wayne Rooney. Speaking on The United Stand, Rooney attacked the squad's mentality and work ethic, describing them as selfish and childish.

Rooney, 41, contrasted his own approach to the game with the current players' attitude. "I was a player who could score goals and had certain technical qualities, but at least I ran a lot, worked hard and gave my all for the team, even when things got difficult. But these players don't do that," he said. "I'd love to go into that dressing room, gather them all and say: 'What the hell are you doing? Do you think you deserve to wear that shirt?'"

The former Everton striker believes the squad has deceived multiple high-level managers and lacks the basic commitment required. United sit just one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League after losing five of their eight domestic matches, and have also been eliminated from the Champions League.
