Portu reaches 200 matches with Girona

Portu reached 200 official appearances for Girona in the Copa del Rey win over Cuarte, marking a milestone after recovering from a serious knee injury.

Portu reached 200 official appearances for Girona after playing in the club's 2-0 Copa del Rey victory over Cuarte. The Murcia-born forward started the match and played just over an hour before being substituted by Carles Pérez, as manager Quique Álvarez used the tie to give minutes to less-used players.

The milestone comes after a difficult period for Portu, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture that sidelined him for months. His return against Albacete, marked by an emotional reception at Montilivi, was one of the most poignant moments of the season's start. He has since been rebuilding his match fitness and competitive sharpness.

Now at a Girona side fighting to return to La Liga after their Champions League campaign last season, Portu faces increased competition for attacking positions. His experience and knowledge of the club remain valuable assets in the dressing room as the team pursues promotion.
