Vincent Kompany has been discharged from hospital following his collapse last Friday. Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that the 40-year-old was diagnosed with meningeal irritation — inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord — which triggered the incident. Kompany fell unconscious, experienced convulsions, and dislocated his shoulder during the collapse.

Eberl told German media ARD that Kompany will continue his rehabilitation at home with rest and medication, expressing confidence he will return to the touchline at full capacity within weeks. "We've said all along that he will get all the time he needs," Eberl stated. Assistant manager Aaron Danks took charge for Bayern's recent matches, including their DFB-Pokal win over Magdeburg.

Kompany, who joined Bayern in 2024, has led the club to two Bundesliga titles and three domestic cups. England captain Harry Kane, who won the Ballon d'Or on Monday, sent well-wishes to Kompany during his acceptance speech, crediting the manager's influence on his development.
