Troy Deeney is blatantly wrong about Arsenal player, he should not be 'offended' by latest

Opinion piece arguing Troy Deeney is wrong to suggest Viktor Gyokeres should feel offended by starting Arsenal's Carabao Cup match against Fleetwood Town.

Troy Deeney suggested on CBS Sports that Viktor Gyokeres should feel insulted at being selected to start Arsenal's Carabao Cup tie against Fleetwood Town, claiming the manager was showing a lack of faith. However, the article argues Deeney's take is misguided. Gyokeres, 28, has struggled for minutes this season after being linked with moves away in the summer, but has now started successive games for the Gunners. He scored in the 1-1 draw against Fleetwood (lost on penalties) and registered an assist in his Premier League debut start against Everton the previous weekend.

The piece contends Gyokeres should be pleased with the opportunity, not offended. Starting back-to-back matches shows he is rising in manager Mikel Arteta's estimation, and he outperformed Kai Havertz in the Fleetwood match. With Havertz struggling and Gyokeres in good form, he may retain his place for Arsenal's trip to Liverpool. Arteta has backed the Swedish forward to score regularly again, indicating he remains a key part of the club's plans for their title defence and European campaign.
