Bolton will not change approach - Schumacher

Schumacher defends his tactical approach after Bolton's 5-1 home loss to Middlesbrough, citing the quality gap between squads rather than tactical naivety.

Bolton boss Steven Schumacher has defended his side's tactical approach following their heavy 5-1 defeat at home to Middlesbrough on Friday, insisting he will not change how his team sets up. Schumacher acknowledged that Middlesbrough outplayed Bolton but attributed the loss to the quality of opposition rather than his team being tactically exposed. He pointed out that Middlesbrough's starting eleven cost £45m compared to Bolton's £1.7m, and stressed his commitment to remaining organised, aggressive and positive.

Schumacher's side face Bristol City on Saturday at 15:00 GMT, followed by away trips to Charlton Athletic and Derby County within six days. The, former Bolton manager confirmed Chris Forino-Joseph is fit and available, but striker Ryan Hardie suffered a hamstring injury playing for the U-21s and will be sidelined for a considerable period. John McAtee is also a concern with a knee issue that requires further assessment.
