Maxence Lacroix: Chelsea injury woes intensify amid fears defender could face months out

Lacroix pulled a hamstring against Liverpool and could miss up to 15 matches, potentially sidelined until January.

Maxence Lacroix suffered a hamstring injury during Chelsea's match against Liverpool on Wednesday, forced off shortly before half-time. Manager Xabi Alonso initially suggested a few weeks out and that Lacroix would miss the international break, but fears are growing the injury is more serious. The worst-case scenario has him sidelined until January 2027, which would see him miss as many as 15 matches starting with Manchester United's visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Lacroix has featured in all 11 of Chelsea's matches this season since arriving from Crystal Palace in the summer. With Reece James, Joao Pedro, Aaron Anselmino and Jorrel Hato also on the treatment table, Wesley Fofana is expected to step up at centre-back alongside Levi Colwill and Josh Acheampong.
