Why Estevao isn't playing for Chelsea as key Xabi Alonso concern revealed amid transfer worry

Estevao has started just twice in 11 Premier League matches under Xabi Alonso, who cites the Brazilian's lack of physicality and ongoing recovery from a hamstring injury.

Estevao has struggled for playing time since Xabi Alonso's appointment as Chelsea manager in the summer. The 19-year-old Brazilian has featured in only eight of Chelsea's 11 matches this season and started just twice, both times in the Carabao Cup, despite impressing in substitute appearances and remaining a regular for Brazil.

Alonso has suggested Estevao lacks the physicality to compete in the Premier League and is still recovering from a serious hamstring injury suffered in spring. The manager held talks with Estevao in early September about his limited minutes and has insisted opportunities will come, saying "the season is long and there will be moments for everyone."

Reports indicate Estevao is growing frustrated with his situation, with links to a January loan exit emerging. However, Alonso has ruled out letting him leave, promising the winger will play an important role as the season progresses.
