Funes: "Each time it weighs a bit more not to win matches"

Málaga manager Funes reflects on another near-miss result, saying the weight of not winning games is mounting as the team continues to create chances without reward.

Málaga manager Juanfran Funes spoke after another frustrating result, with his side coming close to scoring against Real Betis but ultimately leaving empty-handed. The manager acknowledged the toll the winless run is taking on players and supporters alike, with nearly 800 fans in attendance.

"It's hard, especially because we can't give our people a reward," Funes said. "The players are struggling because when you see heads dropping or you're far from getting the prize, you can feel hopeless. But they're fighting and having chances."

Funes noted that Málaga has now faced all the European-competing teams this season. "We've come up against a real top side and had the chance to take something until the last moment. When weeks pass and you don't win games, it weighs more and more," he explained. He remains hopeful that one or two good results will change everything, but acknowledged that top teams punish mistakes—Betis scored twice, the last in added time.
