Harry Kane makes rare admission on performance in first game since winning Ballon d'Or

Kane missed a penalty in Bayern's 2-2 Der Klassiker draw with Dortmund, his first game since winning the Ballon d'Or, and admitted it wasn't his best performance.

Harry Kane made his first appearance since winning the Ballon d'Or on Monday, but endured a frustrating night as Bayern drew 2-2 with Dortmund in Der Klassiker at the Allianz Arena. The England captain missed a penalty—the first player to do so in the fixture in 14 years—and struggled to impose himself on the match. Kane did provide an assist for Dayot Upamecano's goal that briefly put Bayern ahead, but was unable to prevent Dortmund from equalising twice through Serhou Guirassy and Fabio Silva.

After the match, Kane reflected on his rare off day: "Today probably wasn't my best performance or the team's best performance, but that's just life. It's part of being a striker and a footballer." He acknowledged the frustration of an evening where chances simply wouldn't fall for him, saying he could have played another hour without scoring.

Bayern face further concerns with injuries to Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry, while manager Vincent Kompany remains absent after his recent collapse at the training ground. Kane is already focused on the next challenge, an away trip to Atlético Madrid, and vowed to be ready despite the demanding fixture schedule ahead.
