Gattuso's Work

Commentary on Lazio's first-place position and Gattuso's management, with analysis of Italian football politics surrounding the FIGC presidency.

A column examining Lazio's strong start to the season under Gattuso, praising their performances since mid-August and their 2-1 victory. The piece notes comparisons to historic great teams but argues this is simply Gattuso's squad playing without preconceptions.

Beyond the pitch, the commentary addresses several unclear developments in Italian football: the sudden activism of player and manager associations targeting FIGC president Malagò; ambiguous statements from Cagliari, Sassuolo and Venezia about supporting presidential candidates; and Malagò's apparent optimism despite facing opposition from powerful figures including Galliani. The column predicts Wednesday will reveal the presidential candidates and expects betrayals and double endorsements.

The piece concludes by forecasting praise for Amorim and criticism of Chivu in the coming week, while defending Saturday's derby as a genuine contest and noting Lautaro's irreplaceability.
