Lazio's first place in four points: from the dressing room to show football and ambitions

Gattuso has transformed Lazio's dressing room and tactical approach, creating unity and a high-intensity attacking style that has propelled them to first place.

Lazio's first-place position is the result of a complete overhaul by manager Gattuso since his summer arrival. After Maurizio Sarri's departure left the squad fractured and demoralised, Gattuso rebuilt the team from the ground up, starting in the dressing room. He personally contacted senior players to secure their commitment and isolated the squad from summer distractions including the zero-budget transfer window and fan discontent.

Gattuso has established himself as an emotional catalyst and father figure, maintaining strict discipline on punctuality and respect while remaining accessible—his office door is always open. He has evolved from his earlier, more volatile self, recognising that off-field work with players is as demanding as tactical preparation. The squad now describes itself as a family willing to run through fire for him, with no internal divisions. Recent signings Pedraza, Dele-Bashiru and Pinamonti have strengthened the group despite absences through injury.

On the pitch, Gattuso has implemented an aggressive, entertaining style of play—"gioco-show"—combining fierce pressing with attacking ambition. After a poor start against Mantova, the team responded with enthusiasm and has since dominated Serie A.
