Frank McAvennie questions grief-stricken Auston Trusty's length of time off at Celtic following death of his father

McAvennie criticised Celtic for allowing defender Trusty extended leave to attend his father's funeral, calling the decision 'woke'.

Frank McAvennie has questioned Celtic's decision to grant Auston Trusty extended leave following his father's death. Trusty was given time off to grieve with his family in the US and attend his father's funeral, missing the club's 2-0 loss to Falkirk.

Speaking on his Let Me Be Frank podcast, McAvennie expressed concern about the length of Trusty's absence, saying: "How long do you want off?" and "You've got football. You're getting paid and we're in trouble." He characterised the decision as part of "the woke brigade", arguing that despite personal tragedy, players should continue working. McAvennie added that when his own father died, he had to "get on with it".

Host Simon Houston quickly dismissed McAvennie's comments.
