Fabregas: "We have 15 players, everyone will play against Lens. Another step for our small world"

Fabregas previews Como's Champions League trip to Lens on Wednesday, noting squad depth constraints with only 15 players available and emphasizing the importance of managing energy across a 47-48 game season.

Como manager Cesc Fabregas spoke ahead of Wednesday's Champions League match against Lens (kick-off 21:00 CET), acknowledging the challenge of competing in Europe while maintaining Premier League form. The club faces Lens after a 4-1 defeat to Manchester United last time out, with a Serie A clash against Inter at San Siro to follow on Sunday.

Fabregas highlighted Como's squad limitations, explaining that with only 15 players registered for Champions League, rotation is difficult and all will eventually play. "We're a bit penalised by the Champions League squad list," he said. "It's harder to manage energy in some matches, so possession becomes fundamental." He stressed that while a win would help, Como cannot afford to think long-term in Europe: "We're not a big club that can think ahead. We take it match by match."

The manager also paid tribute to Jesus De Miguel, the young Spanish footballer who died recently. "It's heartbreaking that something so terrible happens in such a beautiful sport," Fabregas said. "As a father myself, I can't imagine the pain his parents are going through."
