Lennart Karl steals in behind Atlético Madrid to inspire Bayern Munich win

Bayern Munich defeated Atlético Madrid 2-0 in the Champions League, with Lennart Karl and Konrad Laimer scoring as Bayern dominated possession and chances.

Bayern Munich secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Atlético Madrid in a Champions League encounter at the Wanda Metropolitano. Lennart Karl opened the scoring in the 54th minute, with Konrad Laimer adding a second as Bayern controlled the match from start to finish.

Harry Kane, playing his first European match since winning the Ballon d'Or, was unable to find the net but was central to Bayern's attacking play. The English striker had several chances, including a blocked effort from close range and a volley that went wide. Bayern dominated possession with nearly 70% in the first half, keeping Atlético pinned back and restricting them to minimal opportunities. Alexander Sørloth cut a lonely figure up front for the hosts, with few chances to influence the game.

Bayern's intensity and physicality proved decisive, with the team racking up 19 shots across the 90 minutes. The victory suggests Bayern's credentials as serious Champions League contenders this season, with Kane eyeing a return to the final on 5 June to avenge his 2019 loss in the same stadium.
