Bayern fans impressed by Atlético supporters: "Not like Real Madrid or Barcelona fans"

Bayern beat Atlético at the Metropolitano in a Champions League clash; German fans praised the home supporters' conduct on social media.

Atlético Madrid lost to Bayern Munich in a Champions League match at the Metropolitano on November 3, with the Bavarian side proving clearly superior despite the home team's efforts. The stadium was nearly full with 69,821 fans (99% capacity), including 3,800 Bayern supporters, making it one of the best-attended fixtures of the midweek European round.

Despite the match being flagged as high-risk by Spanish sports authorities, no significant incidents occurred. Historically, the two sets of supporters have had tense relations, stemming from Atlético's 2017 Champions League semi-final elimination of Bayern and comments from German figures like Thomas Müller and Lothar Matthäus criticizing Atlético's playing style.

What stood out was the reaction from Bayern fans on social media, who praised Atlético supporters for their respectful conduct and genuine passion. German fans contrasted this favorably with other Spanish clubs, noting that Atlético fans acknowledged Bayern's superiority without making excuses, describing them as "true gentlemen" compared to what they characterized as more toxic fan bases.
