Technique, running and leadership: Taylor from possible departure to Lazio cornerstone under Gattuso

Gattuso praised Taylor's all-round display against Cagliari, with the midfielder now a key player despite summer interest from Brighton and Bournemouth.

Matteo Guendouzi Taylor has become integral to Lazio's midfield under Gattuso after a uncertain summer when his future seemed in doubt. The Dutch midfielder recorded nine ball recoveries against Cagliari—the most in the match—while covering 12,399 kilometres and creating chances throughout. Gattuso was effusive in his praise: "I still have in my eyes Taylor saving two Cagliari counterattacks, turning the play in our favour."

Taylor has found form recently, scoring the decisive goal against Parma and providing an assist in the midweek win over Sassuolo. His leadership and commitment are evident in his celebrations and involvement in every attacking move. Despite interest from Premier League clubs including Brighton and Bournemouth, Gattuso made clear his intentions: "I'm not afraid of January sales. So far no one has come to my office and I hope they don't. I could lock the door."
