"My clothes became the laughing stock of everyone": Liam Rosenior speaks out on painful Chelsea experience

Rosenior, now Paris FC manager, reflects on his difficult six-month spell at Chelsea, where he was sacked in April after five consecutive defeats.

Liam Rosenior has opened up about his troubled time at Chelsea in an interview with So Foot. The English manager was hired to replace Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge but lasted less than six months before being dismissed on 22 April following five straight defeats without scoring.

Rosenior revealed he faced significant personal challenges beyond football during his tenure. He highlighted a particularly difficult moment during Chelsea's Champions League double-header against PSG, where he was mocked for his instructions to Garnacho written on paper during a 10-man situation, with the score at 3-0 (8-2 aggregate). "My clothes became the laughing stock of everyone, my way of speaking too," he said. "I am not a joke."

The 42-year-old suggested cultural clashes played a role in his struggles, noting that English football has preconceived ideas about how a Premier League manager should behave and conduct himself. He also criticised the role of media and social media in shaping narratives around managers and players, saying they can influence public opinion and construct entire stories around a club's trajectory. Rosenior is now managing Paris FC from the 2026-27 season onwards.
