Papers: Carrick's job saved by failure to agree on replacement

Man Utd shelved plans to sack Carrick this week after struggling to identify a replacement manager.

Manchester United had planned to dismiss Michael Carrick this week but the club's failure to agree on a successor has bought the head coach a reprieve. The delay in settling on a replacement has granted Carrick another stay of execution at Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, Crystal, former Palace manager Pierre Sage has been given more time to turn around the club's fortunes but remains under significant pressure, with his position potentially in jeopardy if Palace lose to Tottenham on Saturday. Rob Edwards has rejected the opportunity to become Burnley's new head coach.
