Dirk Kuyt has been appointed interim manager of Fenerbahçe following the resignation of Ismail Kartal on Tuesday. Kartal stepped down after the club's 2-1 defeat to rivals Galatasaray. The 46-year-old Dutch former striker, who played over 200 games for Liverpool before joining Fenerbahçe in 2012 and winning the Turkish league title two years later, has been serving as Kartal's assistant coach since June. Fenerbahçe confirmed in a statement that Kuyt will act as technical supervisor of the first team until a permanent manager is appointed.
