Controversy in London over Estevao

Estevao has started just twice all season under new manager Xabi Alonso and was benched for Chelsea's League Cup penalty loss to Liverpool, prompting questions about his limited playing time.

Estevao arrived at Chelsea last summer as one of world football's most promising young talents after an impressive start at Stamford Bridge, including a stunning goal against Barcelona in the Champions League. A hamstring injury in April cut short his debut season and ruled him out of Brazil's World Cup squad.

Under new manager Xabi Alonso, the 19-year-old winger has barely featured. He has not started a single Premier League match this season and has made just two starts overall, both in early League Cup rounds. He was left on the bench for Wednesday's penalty shootout loss to Liverpool in the League Cup, prompting Chelsea fans to chant his name throughout the match.

When questioned about Estevao's lack of playing time, Alonso acknowledged the player's frustration but insisted opportunities would come. "I understand his situation; without doubt, he could be happier," the manager said. "All players want to play. The moment will come for everyone. I'm sure his opportunity will arrive; that's my responsibility. We have to manage that. We know the season will be long and there will be moments for everyone."
