Michael Carrick opens up on Bruno Fernandes talks at Manchester United

Carrick and Fernandes have resolved their disagreement following clear-the-air talks; the captain will return to the starting XI against Chelsea.

Michael Carrick has moved past his disagreement with Bruno Fernandes after holding talks with the Manchester United captain at Carrington on Tuesday. Fernandes had questioned Carrick's tactics following United's Champions League defeat to Como and was subsequently dropped to the bench for the Bournemouth match, where he remained unused.

Following their summit, Carrick confirmed the situation is resolved and Fernandes will be recalled to the starting XI for this weekend's fixture against Chelsea. Club figures have noted the midfielder returning to his "best version" over the past 72 hours after a challenging week. Carrick praised Fernandes' commitment, saying: "He's fully committed to this football club, he's fully committed to making things better. He's the one that's kind of led the team so well for many a game and many a year, and he'll continue to do that." Fernandes will retain the captaincy, with Carrick confirming there is no decision to be made on that front.
