Roy Keane's secret Man United training visit that left him furious and Wayne Rooney's threat

Keane visited Carrington in 2020 and was angered by one player's lack of commitment; Rooney has since criticized the squad's effort after the Bournemouth loss.

Roy Keane made a secret visit to Manchester United's Carrington training ground in 2020 during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tenure. The former United captain, who had not returned to the club since leaving in 2005, came to help discuss standards and mentality with the players. However, Keane was left furious by one player's apparent lack of interest and attitude, believing the squad's commitment issues would eventually cost Solskjaer his job—a prediction that proved correct when Solskjaer was sacked in November 2021.

More recently, Wayne Rooney has voiced similar frustrations with the current squad's performances. After United's 3-0 loss to Bournemouth, the former midfielder said on the Stick to United podcast that he would like to storm into the dressing room and demand answers, comparing his own commitment to the club with what he sees as the players' lack of effort and emotion on the pitch.
