Change needed

Flick trialled a new defensive setup in training ahead of Saturday's Camp Nou clash with Alavés, signalling tactical adjustments after losses to PSG and Real Madrid.

Hansi Flick tested a revolutionary defensive formation during Barcelona's training session before the Alavés match. While it may only be an experiment, the move signals the manager is considering tactical changes following back-to-back defeats to PSG and Real Madrid.

Flick will determine the scope and nature of any adjustments, but Barcelona's squad was not built to underperform. The club is also expected to strengthen its defence in the transfer market, with president Laporta keen to reinforce the centre-back position and potentially the full-back line to ensure the team is competitive when the major titles are contested.

Barcelona has displayed spectacular football under Flick this season and remains La Liga's best-performing team. However, the manager and players must decide how to evolve the system to handle all situations, particularly in crucial moments of big matches. Flick appears to be taking steps to introduce changes that could improve an already excellent team.
